Hello! My name is K. Morgan McGlothlin and I am a PhD Candidate at Georgetown University in the Department of Government. My dissertation focuses on the early French liberal writer, novelist, and salonnière Madame de Staël. Using interdisciplinary methods which draw on the history of ideas, literary theory, and political theory, I seek to reconstruct Staël’s literary-political thought.

Other research interests include the relationship between politics and literature, the public-private sphere, and questions about the role of persuasion, toleration, and eloquence, liberalism as a moral tradition, and democratic theory.
